Privacy
Coloring Moon is made for parents and teachers. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell data. Last updated October 24, 2026.
Coloring Moon is run by Nutmeg Studios LLC, 1007 Chestnut St, Newton, MA 02464, USA. We are responsible for your data (the "controller" under GDPR). Email contact@coloringmoon.com with any question.
Free use needs no account
You can download, print and make pages without signing up. We don't use ads or third-party trackers, and we use one essential browser cookie to count free generations. It contains a random identifier, with no name or email.
Photos
We don't store your photo. It's sent to our drawing provider to make your page. That provider is OpenAI, with Google as a backup when OpenAI is busy or down. OpenAI also runs a safety check on the photo first. We remove the photo's location and camera details before we send it, and we never write it to disk, a database or our logs.
Photo to color by number sends the photo the same way, to make its line drawing. The numbers and colors are then added on our own server, in memory. If the drawing can't be made, the page is made on our server from the photo alone. Nothing of the photo is kept once your page is made.
The providers keep what we send them for a short time, under their own rules:
- OpenAI normally keeps abuse-monitoring data for up to 30 days, with exceptions for safety and legal requirements. Read its API data policy.
- Google keeps abuse-monitoring data for 55 days. Its data use depends on the API service and account settings. Read its abuse-monitoring policy and API terms.
Descriptions
When you describe a page, the description goes to OpenAI's safety check and to the drawing provider, on the same terms as photos. We don't keep a log of what you asked for. If you have Premium and save a page, the saved page keeps its description as its title, so you can find it again. Deleting the page deletes the description too.
Your finished page
The finished page is sent back to your browser and isn't kept on our servers, unless you have Premium and choose to save it. Saved pages keep the line art and the description, never the photo.
Name and puzzle tools
The name coloring page and tracing worksheet tools run in your browser. The names you type stay on your device. If you add an AI picture to a name page, tracing sheet, maze or word search, only its theme or description and the art style are sent to draw it, on the same terms as descriptions. Puzzle word lists and titles stay on your device too. The finished picture is combined with your letters or puzzle in your browser. The coloring book maker also keeps its page list and cover name in your browser only, and clears them when you sign out.
The daily free limit
We count free pages per browser, or per account when you sign in. A shared network limit helps stop abuse. Counts expire at the end of the day (UTC). Usage records are kept in our database when configured, and expired records are removed during routine cleanup. Our web host also keeps request logs to keep the site secure.
Premium accounts
Premium needs an account. We keep your email address to sign you in, your saved pages and your page count. Sign-in and our database run on Netlify Identity and Netlify Database. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see or store your card number. Netlify sends account confirmation and password recovery emails.
You can also sign in with Google. Google then shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. Netlify Identity keeps your email, your name and a link to the picture with your account. We use the email address only for your account, the same as an email sign-up. We don't use or show your name or picture, and we don't get your Google password or anything else from your Google account. Google shows netlify.com as the app asking for access, because Netlify runs our sign-in.
Why we use your data (legal bases)
- To give you what you asked for, such as drawing your page or running your Premium account (performing our contract with you).
- To keep the site safe and fair, such as the safety checks, the daily limit and security logs (our legitimate interests).
- To keep payment and tax records (a legal obligation).
We don't use your data for advertising or profiling, and we don't sell or share it for those uses.
How long we keep it

Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you the data we hold about you, or send you a copy you can take elsewhere.
- Correct it, or delete it.
- Stop or limit how we use it.
You can delete your account yourself on your account page. That deletes your email, saved pages and page count, and cancels Premium. You can download each saved page as an SVG first. For anything else, email contact@coloringmoon.com and we'll answer within 30 days. If you live in the EU or UK and aren't happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Where your data goes
Our providers (OpenAI, Google, Stripe and Netlify) are based in the United States or process data there. When data leaves the EU or UK, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the standard contract clauses approved by the European Commission.
Analytics
We count page views and downloads with Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that runs on our own server. It uses no cookies and keeps no personal data.
Children
This site is for adults. Children can color the pages, but accounts, purchases and uploads are for grown-ups. Parents and teachers choose what to upload. If you upload a photo of a child, it is handled exactly as described above: sent to our drawing provider to make the page, and not stored by us. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, email contact@coloringmoon.com and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date, and email Premium members about important changes.
